SEVA
Seva is a comprehensive family health locker app built specifically for the Indian market. It bridges the gap between chaotic physical clinics and digital healthcare by offering a seamless caregiver proxy mode, a highly scalable UI localized into 12 regional languages, and live token tracking for clinic wait times.

When designing for 1.47 billion people, you quickly realize that standard Western UX patterns do not apply. In India, healthcare is rarely an individual journey-it is managed by the family. Yet, most modern health apps are designed for single, English-speaking users in metro cities.
This creates three massive friction points:
The Caregiver Proxy Burden: In Indian households, healthcare management is rarely individual. Young adults and children act as permanent caregivers for aging parents and grandparents, forced to manually track multiple medication schedules, cross-state paper prescriptions, and physical doctor files.
The Digital Onboarding Wall: Government health portals (like Ayushman Bharat Health Account) and digital lockers often rely on intimidating multi-step registration forms or long alphanumeric identifiers. For elderly family members, this creates an immediate drop-off point before care even begins.
Waiting Room Chaos: Physical queues in local clinics are notoriously unpredictable. Patients experience severe anxiety and wasted time sitting in crowded rooms due to a total lack of transparent, real-time wait-time tracking or token visibility.

From Single-User to Multi-User Infrastructure: Seva had to pivot away from a standard personal dashboard to a family-first operational hub, prioritizing rapid accessibility, 1-tap profile switching, and frictionless authentication over visual clutter.

To transition smoothly from our core challenges to the UI execution, Seva’s architecture was designed around a caregiver-first hub model. Instead of forcing users through deep, nested menus, the entire system branches out globally from a central dashboard. This layout ensures high-priority features-such as instant multi-account family switching, live clinic queue tokens, and daily records-remain accessible within a 1-tap reach.

When I first conceptualized Seva, I fell into the trap of designing a "standard" medical app. I built a clean UI, but scenario mapping and demographic research quickly revealed that this initial V1 was fundamentally flawed for the Indian market.

The Westen Onboarding Blocker: Version 1 was relied on email/password combinations and social logins. For elderly users and the Tier 2/3 demographic, this is an immediate drop-off point.
The Pivot: I completely scrapped this for a Mobile Number + OTP and direct ABHA login, matching the mental model of Indian digital public infrastructure.

Static vs. Live Context: The original Token UI was a static text box. It lacked the urgency and clarity needed to reduce waiting room anxiety.
The Pivot: Upgraded to a dynamic, real-time widget with live wait-time estimates and offline-sync capabilities.

The Hidden Profile Trap: The original design used a standard, tiny profile avatar in the top right corner. Managing family members would require digging through nested menus-a massive friction point in a stressful clinic.
The Pivot: This failure directly led to the invention of the 1-tap "Caregiver Purple" global state switch, bringing multi-user management to the forefront of the dashboard.

Wasted Cognitive Space: The version 1 medical records utilized unnecessary stock imagery (e.g., generic photos for "migraine"), creating visual clutter.
The Pivot: I replaced this with high-density, text-forward data cards optimized for the 12-language translation scaling.

Building Seva reinforced that true accessibility goes far beyond standard color contrast-it requires deep cultural and infrastructural empathy. Engineering a design system that could handle the spatial constraints of 12 regional scripts without breaking the UI was the most challenging, yet rewarding, aspect of this project. It taught me how to bridge the gap between complex government APIs (like ABHA) and absolute user simplicity.
